Palliative and End of Life Care
Description
This program consists of six 1 credit courses of 12 hours of study available completely online. Opportunities will be provided to apply the nursing process, demonstrate pattern recognition, increase self-directedness, and participate in the delivery of comprehensive care of palliative and end of life patients. Learners will examine the philosophy of hospice palliative care and the palliative approach to care. Case studies exemplifying holistic, family-centered nursing care of persons at the end of life who are experiencing pain and other symptoms will be discussed, including, ethical and legal dilemmas.
After successfully completing all six modules, students will receive a Statement of Professional Learning from Laurentian University. A certificate of completion can be requested from the Centre for Continuing Learning for each one credit course completed.
Registered Nurses in Ontario who take these courses are eligible to apply for reimbursement of tuition costs through the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
