Program Overview:
The Autism and Behavioural Science Online Program is a one-year (12 month) college graduate certificate program. The courses are delivered via online synchronous learning, which means students attend two to four scheduled online evening (EST) classes a week. This program is designed for students who already have a degree or diploma in a related field. Students will learn theories of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and methods to deliver support to persons with disabilities across all age sectors. ABA can be used to teach new competencies such as communication and language, social skills, life skills, leisure skills, academic skills, play skills and much more. Graduates of the program are in high demand and are able to select from a range of opportunities including working in clinical settings, school boards and community agencies.
Your Learning Experience
The online program focuses on learning and teaching skills to decrease challenging behaviours for persons with autism and other disabilities. Students will learn foundational theories of practice in their first five courses followed by four additional courses in application of theories. You will gain knowledge on the theory of Applied Behaviour Analysis and specifically how to support those with autism and other developmental disabilities. Students will learn to deliver support across all age sectors (children, youth, and adults).
Because this is an online program, students who display a high level of self-discipline, motivation and organization, are able to communicate effectively through writing, work well with others and are able to commit the necessary time toward each course have proven to be successful in this program.
