Diabetes Education Program
Description
Our Diabetes Education Program is designed for health care professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and skills in diabetes education and care. The courses in this program place a particular focus on how to provide diabetes education to diverse populations living with pre-diabetes or diabetes. They reflect the current competencies of the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board (CDECB) and are intended for those preparing for the CDECB exam. This nursing program emphasizes holistic care, cultural diversity/sensitivity, critical thinking and reflective practice. Courses take a patient-focused, family-centred and interprofessional approach. Current research, adult learning principles, social justice, best practices and lived experience provide the foundation for learning.
