Our society is always changing – and it needs passionate, informed advocates to help our criminal-justice system evolve along with it. The Chang School Certificate in Criminal Justice and Criminology gives you a critical and interdisciplinary understanding of how the criminal justice system really works, and what kind of career paths you can pursue within it.
 
Our criminal justice program is taught by instructors with many years of education and experience working in criminal justice; they offer critical real-world examples and case studies that will help you learn all about the most pressing issues within the system. We prioritize an interdisciplinary approach, offering online criminology courses covering criminology, geography, psychology, philosophy, and sociology to help broaden your skill set and help you stand out to future employers.
 
You’ll soon understand the complexities in trying to balance the interests of victims, offenders, the public, and politicians, along with human-rights and social-justice outcomes. You’ll also gain key experience in how people are affected by the criminal justice system, and explore potential improvements to the system.
 
This program’s criminal justice courses will set you up for success in a wide variety of fields. A certificate in criminal justice and criminology may help you kickstart a career working for non-profits who assist justice-involved people and engage with communities involved in reform, or police or security services. You may also work with young offenders in community or institutional settings, women and marginalized people in conflict with the law, and victims of crime.
 
Entering the field doesn’t take long, either. You can complete all your criminology courses online, and finish the program in one year.

Admission Criteria:

Recommended:
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- With 6 Grade 12 U or M credits  OR
  • Mature student status with relevant work experience including policing, corrections, courts, social service agencies, security management services, or regulatory enforcement agencies

  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 1.67+
To graduate, you must successfully complete, within your official time span, the requirements from the year you registered in the program.
