"Data Analytics provides a basic-level introduction in the areas of statistics, data analytics, big data analytics, machine learning, and technical/software applications. You’ll learn technical concepts from leading practitioners and benefit from hands-on courses and computer lab training with the latest industry tools. In this program, you'll work individually or on teams to complete course projects and build a professional portfolio.
You’ll learn to:

• Collect, analyze, interpret, and share data
• Identify relationships in data
• Select and employ problem-solving techniques and source standard and web-based tools to test analytical solutions
• Demonstrate fundamental skills for using information visualization techniques and tools
• Define the principles and potential uses of artificial intelligence in various industries
• Employ data models in business intelligence and data analysis case studies

The program is designed for professionals and offers evening and/or Saturday courses that allow you to finish in 12-18 months.
Admission Requirements
This program is an open enrolment program. There is no formal admission procedure. To enrol in a course or the program, simply register online. Students should register at least three weeks before classes begin. Courses can be taken as part of a program or individually.
Data Analytics Program Requirements & Prerequisites
In compliance with the Certificates and Diploma admission policy from Undergraduate Council, learners who wish to enrol in Data Analytics should meet the following requirements based on their education and work experience:
- Proficiency with computer program applications, such as Word, and Excel;
- Be a mature student as defined in the Undergraduate Calendar of McMaster University; or
- Be deemed an exceptional case by the Centre for Continuing Education. Prospective students within this category must contact the Program Manager for consultation and evaluation of past education and professional experience;
Data Analytics program follows Bring your own device (BYOD) policies. Laptop computer requirements are included in the course descriptions for courses that require a minimum level of technology specification.

English Language Proficiency Requirements
If your first language is not English, you must meet McMaster University’s English language proficiency requirements: Completion of TOEFL exam with a minimum acceptable score of IBT: 86 overall with a minimum score of 20 on each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening), valid for 2 years?"
Data Analytics Certificate of Completion
To earn a Data Analytics Certificate of Completion, students must complete three (3) elective courses (9 units of credit) from the Data Analytics course collection below.
OSI courses are non-credit and participants may request permission to apply the course to obtain a certificate in Data Analytics. If you have any questions, please contact us.
