Self-Advocacy

Description

Self-advocacy can be described as knowing yourself, knowing what you need and how to get it. In practice, this is a complexly layered skillset. One important goal in wellness coaching is to gradually reduce dependence on the coach while increasing clients' personal agency regarding their own future. In this course, students learn strategies to enable clients to monitor their own health and to enhance their ability to identify and access relevant health resources. Students identify opportunities, challenges, risks and benefits within the health care and wellness sectors and help guide clients' paths towards improved wellness.
