Safety in an Educational Setting
Description
Ensuring the safety and well-being of both students and staff is a key focus in today's schools. In this course students will learn how to respond to safety concerns in the school environment by following organizational policies and procedures focused on promoting positive and appropriate student behaviour. The topic of progressive discipline is covered in depth. Specific safety concerns such as child abuse bullying mental health suicide and drug abuse are examined in the context of the responsibilities of educational assistants. Students will also learn how to maintain their own safety in the workplace by examining government established standards in relation to occupational health and safety and workplace violence.
