Receptor Processes and Perception
Description
This course provides a scientific study of how organisms, especially humans, obtain information about their external and internal environments. Topics include the physical stimuli, pertinent receptor processes, neural encoding, perceptual processing; the development of object perception, perceptual constancies, and distortions, the psychophysical methods, from classical methods to modern signal detection concepts and techniques. Prior scientific knowledge of elementary physics and biology is helpful.
