Description
A portfolio is an aggregate of projects, programs or other work that is established to facilitate effective management of an organization's operations to fulfill its mission and meet strategic business objectives. This course covers the strategy, tactics and processes needed for successful management of a portfolio of projects. It outlines a road map to project management improvement and provides a detailed description of the roles, functions and the processes for establishing and managing a Project Management Office, PMO. The course explores the relevance of the PMO to driving the profitability of managing multiple projects. Areas of study include: The structure, characteristics and responsibilities of PMO, the processes, templates and techniques deployed by PMO in portfolio and program management, the selection of projects to maintain a balanced portfolio, linking the portfolio/program to organizational strategy, strategic resource selection and allocation, designing and implementing multiple project management processes.
