Operations Management for Products and Services
Description
This course deals with the latest techniques being used for the effective combination of people, technology, information, equipment, and other resources for the production of the firm’s goods and/or services. The course takes a balanced approach in its presentation in terms of relevance and application to both manufacturing firms and service firms. Topics selected for the course include: the alignment of the operations policies and programs with the firm’s business strategy; information technology applications to operations management; designing operations for goods and services; process selection, design, and analysis; facility design; supply chain design; capacity management; forecasting and demand planning; inventory management; operations scheduling; quality management; lean operating systems; project management. The course makes full use of cases dealing with the contemporary operations management practices of leading firms throughout the world.
