Mathematics
Description
This course provides a review of fundamental mathematical skills required for entry into the Practical Nursing Program (specifically, MATH 1135 (Mathematics for Practical Nurses).Concepts covered include: calculations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions. The focus will be on solving problemsaccurately. An introduction to the Apothecary, Household and S.I. Metric Systems of Measurement will be included. Practice of numerical skills in the class and with home assignments will be a major emphasis of the course, and a focus will be placed on the importance of accuracy in the interpretation and solving of word problems relating to healthcare.
