Justice Communications and Report Writing
Description
This communications course will build upon the lessons learned during the required WRIT courses. Students will be expected to demonstrate effective communications strategies in written and oral forms. Professional writing skills are refined through course activities which include note-taking, drafting occurrence reports and obtaining written witness statements. Topics include effective listening, presentation delivery, report writing specifically pertaining to justice careers. Students will be exposed to the competencies needed to draft a media release related to a specific incident, as well as to the skill set needed to draft justice correspondence related to police investigations.
