FASD Prevention

This course will examine the root causes of alcohol use during pregnancy to better understand prevention. A four-level model of prevention will be explored as well as identifying barriers to each level. Prevention of secondary conditions is also briefly discussed. Examples of existing prevention strategies will be critically examined. Students will be able to share their insights through graded weekly discussions and written assignments. This course primarily focuses on FASD prevention in Canada through some course readings are from the U.S. and other countries.
