Family Dynamics

Description

This course examines the Canadian family in contemporary society. Basic concepts of systems theory are explained. Challenges facing Canadian families will be reviewed. Students will develop an awareness of the principles and values that guide human service practice with families. The family will be discussed in all its facets including coupling, marriage, parenting, divorce and remarriage. Students are encouraged to examine their own family systems in light of contemporary theories of family.
