Ethics Compliance and Law

Description

This course is an overview of Canadian Business Law with an emphasis on the areas of law most pertinent to employees, managers and agents working in the financial services industry. Course content includes the constitution and court system, alternative dispute resolution, torts, professional liability, contracts, property, family law (marriage vs. common law, domestic contracts, separation and divorce), human rights, employment law, business formations, security interests and credit, consumer protection, bankruptcy, consumer proposals and debt management plans. Students will become familiar with the industry code of ethics to identify appropriate conduct standards when faced with a wide variety of client circumstances.
