Ethics and Law (CP)
Description
As computers have a central, and growing, role in all aspects of society, computer programmers will find themselves in situations where they will be required to make informed legal and ethical decisions. In this course, students will be introduced to provincial, federal and international legislation that will inform them in areas of privacy, data protection, cybersecurity and cybercrime. The computer programming student will explore professional ethics and code of conduct as laid out by professional computer organizations. Through research papers, case studies, reflective assignments and discussions, students will explore this challenging world of the legal and the ethical impacts of computers, software and their very own decisions.
