Business Communications for the New World of Work
Description
This course teaches aspiring leaders essential communication skills required to become effective in their interactions with various stakeholders (i.e. subordinates, superiors, and peers). Being an effective communicator in the work environment requires the intentional acquisition and practice of skills such as perception, active listening, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution. Using the lenses of “audience”, “context”, and “intentionality, students will learn how cognition drives verbal and nonverbal communication behaviours that influence leadership credibility. Students will have opportunities to build their confidence by polishing their presentation skills and by participating in regular team meetings.
