Ace Self Management and Self Direction
Description
This course provides learners with the opportunity to manage their personal development. Learners will develop a personal profile which will include, but not be limited to, an exploration of their temperament type and skills identification with an introduction to Essential Skills. They will also gain experience utilizing various problem-solving skills to increase their effectiveness in interpersonal relationships, communicating assertively, goal setting, stress and time management. As well, they will consider aspects of how to increase self-confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem. Learners will also have the opportunity to examine, manage and engage in their own career-building process by researching the career planning process, labour market information, and the trends affecting the current work world. As well, learners will examine the Essential Skills framework in relation to employer expectations. Learners will develop a portfolio by assessing their personal profiles and creating either an employment plan or a career training plan. They will use computers for research and word processing purposes. In all cases, learners will select outcomes according to their own personal background and educational/vocational goals.
PREREQUISITE: Reading score minimum 226
COURSE LENGTH: 80 hours. Learners have a maximum of 20 weeks to complete the course but may complete more quickly if they are able to do so.
