Academic Reading and Writing for Native English Speakers
Description
Designed to meet the needs of students whose first language is not English, this course explores the relationship between reading and writing at a basic academic level. The course helps students to develop skills essential to essay-writing and critical reading. Some emphasis is also placed on practical exercises in diction, grammar and idioms. In the first week of classes, students will be required to demonstrate an appropriate level of competency in reading and writing English. This course does not count for credit in an English concentration, specialization, major, or minor but may be used as an elective.
